Entering Noord, it's immediately apparent that things here don't correspond with the usual norm. Many locals access their 'hood via the Luchtsingel, a funky elevated pedestrian walkway funded through a crowdsourcing campaign. This links with the Hofbogen, a clever reuse of an old railway viaduct that now houses boutiques, cafes, ateliers and other creative spaces. And lest you think that this is all sounding a bit too hip-and-happening, we're pleased to report that the area retains a multicultural, down-to-earth feel despite these recent incursions, welcoming and nurturing its diverse population.
