Teahouse in Breda

Though it's inspired by the Bauhaus-functionalist architecture of Mies van de Rohe, designer John Körmeling's glass-cuboid dates from 2002 - not 1932 as you might imagine. Its pink plastic chairs on a bright red concrete terrace make an intriguing counterpoint to the verdant greens of the surrounding Valkenburg lawns.

Some 20 teas are served along with good coffee, beers and a snack menu including sandwiches (€4.60 to €8.50), soup, generously sized Dutch pancakes (€5 to €6) and salads (€10). Closes either Tuesday or Thursday, October to April according to local school schedules.
