Bistro in Vondelpark & the South

In the swanky residential neighbourhood the Old South, Carter has a split-level dining space with black banquettes, art and photography covering the walls, and a lovely street-side terrace. The kitchen is impressive, with dishes like deep-fried whitebait with wasabi mayo, lobster bitterballen (croquettes) with lemon tarragon sauce, a truffle Wagyu burger, rib-eye steak with rose and pepper sauce, and lemongrass crème brûlée.

Its three-course kids menu (€16) comes with vegetable chips with tomato mayo, a make-your-own hot dog and an Oreo milkshake for dessert.
