Reachable via a couple of pedestrian/bike bridges from the NEMO Science Museum, this nonchalantly cool, laid-back waterside café built from recycled materials has a beer garden that really feels like a garden, with timber benches, picnic tables under the trees and a hipster, arty crowd enjoying sitting out in the sunshine (it comes into its own in summer).

The site dates back to 1662, when it was a guard post monitoring maritime traffic into the city.
