The inspiring Café de Ceuvel is tucked in a former shipyard in Amsterdam Noord. Designed by architect Wouter Valkenier and built from recycled materials, this waterside spot is a surprising oasis alongside the canal and built out onto an island. Drinks include homemade ginger lemonade, plus bottled beer from local heroes Oedipus Brewery.
The menu (mains €6 to €12) is all about organic, home-grown and locally sourced food, with an ever-changing selection of daily specials.
