This is one of those 'only in Amsterdam' places, and well worth the trip. Once-derelict shipyards now host an epically cool artist collective–bar-restaurant, Amsterdam Roest (Dutch for 'Rust'), with a canal-side terrace, mammoth playground of ropes and tyres, hammocks, street art, a sandy beach in summer and bonfires in winter.
The bar interior is a crazy warehouse of sofas and industrial-art confections. Regular events are hosted, including films, live music, festivals, fashion shows and markets. It's slightly tricky to find; the most direct approach is to go along Oostenburgervoorstraat and cross the bridge at the northern end – it's 150m ahead on your left.
