Built for a 19th-century merchant, the Rembrandt Hotel has an impressive red and white facade. Rooms are all different, but are generally light and bright, with colourful curtains or design touches, and prints on the walls. Room 8 has a nearly life-sized mural of The Night Watch; one room has a balcony and one a sauna.
Breakfast (adult/child €10/5) is served in a wood-panelled room with chandeliers and 17th-century paintings on linen-covered walls. Take care not to let cute resident cat Bink out of the building.
Hotel Rembrandt is located in the residential Plantage District, next to the Artis Zoo. The hotel offers free Wi-Fi and an international library with more than 1800 books. Each room of Hotel Rembrandt has a private bathroom, coffee/tea facilities and a minibar. The rooms facing the street have double glazing. Some rooms have access to a garden or a balcony, where smoking is possible. Breakfast is served in the breakfast room every morning at a surcharge. Furthermore, Hotel Rembrandt has a 24-hour reception and offers a bicycle rental service for a fun way to explore the city. The nightlife at Rembrandt Square, the Waterloo Square flea market, the University of Amsterdam and the Hermitage Museum are only 10 minutes' walk away. There is a tram stop at 50 metres from the hotel.
