Max Euwe Centrum

Notable Building in Southern Canal Ring

There's a small exhibition on the history of chess at this centre, named after Max Euwe (1901–81), who, in the 1930s, became the Netherlands' only World Chess Champion. Visitors can play against live or digital opponents. Outside, the oversized chessboard is usually in use, watched by rapt spectators; there will also be a few games in progress on the surrounding benches.
