Canals by bike tourOn this guided bike tour you will feel like one of Amsterdam's locals. It is also a perfect tour for a family trip or as a private tour or with a large group of people.
This tour will bring you back into the beautiful and inspiring history of Amsterdam's most famous area: the 405 years old canal belt. The Canal Belt was recently placed on the list of UNESCO's World Heritage. Amsterdam is alternately known as the Venice of the North and Jerusalem of the West. The route passes by many of the most interesting locations in the center of the city. Old warehouses of every conceivable size and shape can be seen on either side of the canals. Our guide will take you back in time to the Golden Age of Amsterdam, and offer you a surprising look at the turbulent history of one of the major metropolises of the 17th century. This was the century in which the entire canal area was built around the old medieval city center. The Netherlands’ most popular tourist attraction also offers a wide variety of things to discover, including Jordan area and the 9 Streets Area, that is home to a well known shopping district smack dab in the middle of the canal belt, filled with boutiques, hotspot restaurants and shops selling antiques, vintage goods, wines, spirits and cheeses. Its numerous bars and sidewalk cafes offer a perfect spot to linger in town all day long. Along the way we pass museums, music venues, theaters, movie houses, and venture into the green heart of Amsterdam’s renowned Vondelpark, home to recreation, relaxation and summer entertainment. Amsterdam Travel Cafe also takes you to the river that gave the city its name, pointing out several historical landmarks and buildings before proceeding to the famous Jewish Quarter, and recounting the compelling tale of the city whose Jewish inhabitants nicknamed Mokum.
