After spending many hours online searching for cheap(ish) accommodation within half an hour or so's walk from the embassy of Guinea Bissau in Banjul (actually, not on the island, but nearby, in Fajara), I have come up with three or four places, and have e-mailed them asking for their prices. But, all the messages "bounced", and a couple of the websites are not even connected. A bit frustrating. Can anyone please suggest some hostel/cheaper hotel accommodation, for three or four days, in that…
Are there regular boats that go up the river in Gambia? I am only able to find info about ferries crossing from N to S. Or is it better to join a group of tourists and hire a boat out together? I would ideally like to spend a few days along the river starting from Banjul and going to say Wassu.
Hi - I'm thinking of taking the boat ex Dakar to Isle de Karabane
& do Cap Skirring
then heading up to Gambia overland via Kafountine
then somehow cruising down the River Gambia to Kunta Kinteh Island, Kiang West National Park etc
workable hopefully! - any thoughts re boats along the River Gambia
- only seen expensive ugly tourist mega-ships!
ps - or resort to Buses sadly - are these all go?
Express even down to Basse Santa Su
Hello, I was wondering of anyone had any experience traveling independently in Gambia. I plan to travel from Banjul to Jufureh first thing in the morning to visit Kunteh Kinta island and then travel on to Farafeni the same day.
Does anyone have any up to date info of how best to do this?
Good morning, my wife and are both British nationals and plan to fly in to Gambia and to Senegal by land (to the north). We then plan to travel back through Gambia to Senegal in the south. Finally back in to Gambia for our flight.
Will it be straight forward to simply obtain stamps in and out at the borders?
I'll be arriving with my two kids around 2 am and hoping to take the shortest easiest way to accommodation - wondering if there is anything close to the airport :)
Or alternatively, if there is transportation to a nearby city at that hour?
Thanks a million!
