Getting There & Away
Rayong has two bus stations: central bus station 1 and the newer bus station 2, 7km northwest of downtown. All long-distance services use bus station 2. Sŏrng·tăa·ou (passenger pick-up trucks; 15B, 20 minutes) regularly connect the two.
Minivans from Rayong's bus station 2 go to Bangkok's eastern (Ekamai) and northern (Mo Chit) bus terminals (both 160B, 3½ hours, hourly 4.40am to 8pm); these can also drop you off at the AirportLink station one stop away from Suvarnabhumi airport. Frequent minivans also head to Pattaya (100B, two hours), Chanthaburi (150B, two hours) and Trat (200B, three hours).
Regular boats and speedboats connect Ban Phe with Ko Samet. Buses opposite Ban Phe’s Nuanthip pier go to/from Bangkok Ekamai (170B, four hours, every two hours, 7am to 6pm).
Ban Phe also has minivan services to Laem Ngop for boats to Ko Chang (250B, three hours, three daily) and Bangkok's Victory Monument (200B, four hours, every 40 minutes). For Pattaya, it's cheaper to go to Rayong and change there.
