Kong Kin Baan Hao

Thai in Lampang

This ramshackle local favourite consists of a series of interlinked and covered wooden platforms and is most popular after dark, when a bottle of whisky is regarded as a typical side dish. It's fine for Northern Thai staples such as gaang kaa gòp (a herb-laden soup with frog) or lâhp kôo·a (lâhp that has been stir-fried with local spices).

It’s located about 1km outside of town. To get here, head north on Th Ratsada, crossing the river, and turn left at the stoplight. Do a U-turn at the next stoplight; the restaurant is on the left. There's no Roman-script sign; look for the trees.
