There has been frustration expressed about the number of similar questions being asked about onward ticket complications. The idea of this thread is that it might be a one stop shop for all the common questions so in future a link might be given to it rather than having to write the same info again and again-

How do I know the info already on Thorntree about this is still current ?

The basic issues about onward tickets have changed little in the last 25 years or more. When there are any…

This is what I'm considering and like to have your thoughts.

2 parents with 2 kids (7 and 10). We arrive in BKK and after spending 3-4 days there like to head north. Would like to see Autthaya and/or Sukhothai. And/or because not sure if we'll be tired of looking at ruins.** Any advice on which one to see if we only do one?**

Anyways, then afterwards head to Chiang Mai and possibly further north to Chiang Rai etc.

Is it true the Mae Hong Son loop can be bumper to bumper during Christmas

Hello everyone,
I'm going backpacking solo for 27 days, from the 1st of July (landing in Bangkok) to the 28th of July (taking off from Bangkok) and I'd like to see both the north and the south of Thailand, also, I'd love to see Angkor Wat in Cambodia (I was thinking to fly there from Bangkok, saving time and hussle) and see the Elephants, not riding them but just feeding and washing them, so if you know a place where people take care and respect elephants please let me know.

I'd like to travel…

Yet another floating market question? I've read that the Tailing Chan and Mayom Floating markets are closer to BKK and less touristy.

Getting contradicting answers on the net that these markets are open on the weekdays? Can anyone confirm? And weekdays or weekends, what times are they open?
We don't really like to be restricted to a schedule and so don't want to do a tour, is there a way of getting there ourselves by canal?
How about public transport?

Day 1 Chiang Mai city
Day 2 doi setump and other places surrounding, maybe wat among, studio nena and bua tong waterfalls.
Day 3 we have the elephant nature sanctuary booked so that will take most of our day and maybe allow us to drive to pai to sleep.
Day 4 visit pai then drive to doi Chiang Dao and fang or even further…

I'm going to stay for a relatively long time in Koh Samui, so I don't want to miss out my workouts and that is why I want to find a good gym, or if there is no other option, a place where I could do calisthenics (a pull-ups bar is enough, as I have my own gymnastics rings and other implements). However, it'd be cool to find a well-equipped gym with classes like Muay Thai.
Thanks in advance, I await for your suggestions!

Heading to Thailand for our honeymoon and want to do and see a lot. Spending 12 total days. Spending first 4 in Bangkok, then flying to Krabi, then back to Bangkok for last 2 days. We want to hit Phuket, Phi Phi, and Moraket cave while down by Krabi. We would appreciate any advice on the follwing:

  1. Should we plan on 4 or 5 full days to hop around the islands?
  2. Should we include Ko Lanta as a stop to make getting to Moraet cave easier?
  3. Any particular order to go to each place to maximize…
