Starting from the Bearing Skytrain station you and your biking guide will pedal your way through back lanes and alleys to the ferry. Once you and your bicycle are across the Chao Phraya River in Bang Krachao the real biking pleasure begins. Cycling at a leisurely pace ride quiet pathways where all you may meet are birds, a few squirrels and maybe a lizard. Along the way stop to visit a family at an old betel nut plantation for a snack and refreshing herbal drink while observing the ship and barge traffic on the Chao Phraya River. Back on the bike the next goal is to visit a mangrove conservation area where you can catch a glimpse what Bang Krachao was once like in its natural state. Pedaling on through a maze of tree lined biking paths, the next stop is a shrine for the Hindu God Ganesh, the god of beginnings and the remover of obstacles. The final stop on the Bang Krachao trail is the local temple and and the little market near the ferry landing. Duration is 4 hours. Group max of 10.
You'll meet your guide at the Bearing Skytrain Station and, following a quick bike fitting and a little briefing, you'll take off to cycle the back roads on the trail to Bang Krachao. You'll take a local motorcycle ferry across the busy Chao Phraya River. Then, you'll cycle elevated bike paths through local villages, plantations and along the river banks. Next, you'll stop for some homemade refreshments at the old Betel Nut Garden (included in price) and observe the grand views of the Chao Phraya River.Your next stop will be The Firefly Garden. Before man ever came to Bang Krachao the area was a large mangrove forest which would light up at night with the lights of fireflies. Today members of the local community have created a reserve where you can come to see the mangroves as they once were and where the fireflies can flourish. You won’t see any fireflies during the day.Next, meandering away from the mangroves through villages and local Buddhist temples, you'll stop to visit a Shrine to Ganesh, the Hindu god of beginnings and the remover of obstacles.Your last stop on the Bang Krachao trail will be the historical temple of Wat Bang Nam Phueng Nok. There, you'll enjoy some refreshments before you cross back across the Chao Phraya River. At the conclusion of the tour, you'll be returned to the original departure point.
