Tour description provided by Viator

The River Kwai Resotel forms the perfect Kwai Noi base for exploring the highlights of Kanchanaburi: a 2 days’ package that brings customers to historical reminders of World War II, the Death Railway and an abundance of natural splendour and culture.
The diversity of the Kanchanaburi has been a magnet for visitors for many years: aside from its reminders of the atrocities of World War II, the province has been on the forefront of adventure-minded travelers since tourism started to boom. Whereas day trips and short overnight stays form the majority of the stream of visitors who are eager to gain a deeper understanding of the fate of the allied prisoners from 1940-1945, Kanchanaburi has gained a lot more momentum in terms of nature, local hospitality and ample opportunities to spend a night amongst the flora and fauna. The established River Kwai Resotel amplifies the province’s connection with nature and with this 2 day, 1 night immersion alongside the Kwai Noir River; all the highlights are captured in a well-balanced outing from Bangkok. This tour commences with an early morning pick-up from your centrally-located hotel in Bangkok (conditions apply) with pick-up scheduled between 06:00 hrs and 06:30 hrs. The drive away from the capital heads in western direction where one will arrive at around 130 kilometres later at the Kanchanaburi province borders. Our first stop is at the interactive Thailand – Burma Railway Centre, both catering as a museum and information centre for the region. Covering two floors and with ample information to gain an understanding of what occurred, this centre lies within a short walking distance from the Allied War Cemetery, where over 6000 prisoners-of-war are laid to rest. Guests are free to wander around in this well-maintained oasis of serenity and contemplation. Next, the famous Bridge over the River Kwai, an essential link in the construction of the Death Railway – the metal arches have been featured all over the world and the reality of war.  By long tail boat, we head over to the Resotel, where you will check in and enjoy lunch before making your way, again by boat, to a nearby Mon Tribal Village. Originating from neighbouring Myanmar, the Mon tribe have lived in this region for generations. Upon your return back to the resort, time to freshen up and enjoy a set dinner with a local Mon dance performance; the dance performance takes around 45 minutes and depicts the story of the Mon and their values. Overnight at the River Kwai Resotel ends the first day. After breakfast, awaiting long tail boats will bring you to the infamous Hell Fire Pass Memorial. A part of the Death Railway constructed during the Second World War and now abandoned. The long corridor, carved through solid rock has to be the main attraction alongside its small yet interesting museum. Before boarding the train and enjoy a ride over the Death Railway, lunch will be served at a local restaurant near the train station. The ride will cross the treacherous wooden viaduct with stunning views over the river. The end of the line is the end of our Kanchanaburi adventure and at around 14:30 hrs, we head back to Bangkok where we will arrive at around 18:00 hrs.
