There are a few low-budget guesthouses and hotels that change ownership frequently, never quite holding on long enough to be the place to go, partly because tourists rarely stay here. But that's the very thing that makes it a destination worth visiting.


Eating is best arranged at your hotel. There are no restaurants per se, but a few casual spots to eat typical Tanzanian fare.

Drinking & Nightlife

Your best bet for nightlife is to hop on the ferry back to Mwanza. There's nothing here beyond quiet nights and the chance to sip a beer as evening deepens over Lake Victoria's shore.
