8-Day Best of Kenya and Tanzania Safari from Nairobi

Day 1 Pick up in Nairobi at your accommodation of choice or the Nairobi airport. Start your safari to Maasai Mara at 8:30 a.m. Stop over at the Rift Valley viewpoint at 10 a.m. to see the escarpments and the flat lands below. The Rift Valley is a geographical formation that formed millions of years ago and runs from the top to bottom of Africa. Eat lunch in Narok town at 12 p.m. Arrive in Maasai Mara at 3 p.m. Take an evening game safari  drive at 4 p.m for 2 hours. Eat dinner and end your day at your lodging at the Lenchada Tourist Camp, which includes a big tent with a bed, toilet, hot running water, and shower. All food is served at the restaurant there, and a generator is provided to charge phones and cameras at night. Day 2 At 7:30 a.m., start a full-day game drive all the way to the Mara River, the site of the great wildebeest migration. Eat a picnic lunch in the park at 1 p.m. Complete the game drive and return to your accommodation at 4 p.m. In the evening, visit a Masai village to learn more about their culture for an hour. Eat dinner and enjoy free time in the evening. Day 3 Eat breakfast at 7 a.m. Take a morning game drive for 2 hours and exit through the South Gate. Drive to the Isebania border of Tanzania to arrive around midday. Complete the hour-long process to cross the Tanzania border. Meet your Tanzanian driver/guide and chef. Start the game drive in Serengeti en route to the accommodation. Eat dinner and relax. Here you sleep in tents that you will be provided with. You will also be offered a sleeping bag. The camp area is very safe and protected by armed guards and other tourists from other companies will be joining us. All meals are included in the Tanzania safari and will be made by the private chef traveling with you.Day 4 Breakfast at 7 a.m. Full-day game drive in Serengeti and picnic lunch at 1 p.m., then back to the base camp at 4 p.m. for dinner by our chef.Day 5 Depart Serengeti at 7 a.m. Game drive en route to Ngorongoro Park. Evening camping at Ngorongoro Crater at the Simba campsite. Day 1 - Arusha - Lake Manyara National Park (L/D)This morning you'll head to Lake Manyara, an ancient soda lake in the Great Rift Valley, for some game viewing. The game in this beautiful national park is plentiful and the magnificent bird watching will make a devotee out of even the most reluctant. It is also one of the very few places in Africa to see the famous tree-climbing lions. Manyara’s great colonies of pink flamingoes will also delight. Day 2 - Lake Manyara National Park - Serengeti National Park (B/L/D)Today we set out for the endless open plains and stunning skies of Serengeti National Park - a famous migration corridor and UNESCO World heritage site. En route, we stop at Olduvai Gorge. We also make a stop at a Masai Village and pass through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, which was created to accommodate the needs of the Maasai people and which tests the idea that humans leading a pastoral lifestyle can coexist with wildlife. Finally, enter the park and head to your lodge/camp in the heart of the Serengeti for dinner.Day 3 - Full Day Serengeti National Park (B/L/D)Today will be the "Serengeti game viewing day". After breakfast venture into the endless open plains of Serengeti National Park wilderness for a full day game drive with picnic lunches brought along with you. Large prides of lions laze in the tall grasses; families of elephants feed on acacia bark and trumpet to each other across the plains; while giraffes, gazelles, monkeys, eland and the whole range of African wildlife present themselves in awe-inspiring numbers. If you are there during the spectacular wildebeest migration, you will be more than astonished!Day 4 - Serengeti National Park - Ngorongoro Crater Rim (B/L/D)Wake up at 6am for early morning game drives in Serengeti before breakfast. Then after breakfast check out and take your picnic lunch box. Enjoy some last game viewing in Serengeti National Park en route to the world famous Ngorongoro Crater rim. Upon arrival, settle down at your stunning lodge/camp, situated on the rim of the crater. Be prepared for some remarkable views down onto the world’s largest, unflooded and unbroken caldera! Have dinner and overnight.Day 5 - Ngorongoro Crater Floor - Return to Arusha (B/L)Today we descend 2,000 feet into the giant caldera of this extinct volcano, considered as ‘Africa’s Eden’ and the ‘8th Natural Wonder of the World’. Uniquely beautiful, you will never see anything like it again. Take a break for lunch at Ngoitoktok spring before proceeding with some more game viewing and then ascending the crater to drive back to Arusha. We will drop you off at your accommodation in Arusha.

This is how your adventure trip will look like:Day 1 From Arusha proceed to Lake Manyara National Park for a full day game drive with picnic lunches. It is a large, unbroken, un-flooded caldera, formed when a giant volcano exploded and collapsed some three million years ago. The Ngorongoro crater sinks to a depth of 610 meters, with a base area covering 260 square kilometers. The height of the original volcano must have ranged between 4,500 to 5,800 meters high. Apart from the main caldera, Ngorongoro also has two other volcanic craters: Olmoti and Empakai, the former famous for its stunning waterfalls, and the latter holding a deep lake and lush, green walls. Dinner and overnight at Tarangire Campsite.Day 6After early breakfast, proceed for a full day game drive at Tarangire National Park with picnic lunches.The fierce sun sucks the moisture from the landscape, baking the earth a dusty red, the withered grass as brittle as straw. The Tarangire River has shriveled to a shadow of its wet season self. But it is choked with wildlife. After a short briefing your guide will take you on a walk through the village and its surroundings. Dinner and Overnight at Arusha Tourist Inn Hotel.Day 7: Arusha National parkDepart Arusha in the morning with your private guide and travel to Arusha National Park, a short 40-minute drive. The park has an incredible variety of fauna and flora, which cannot fail to impress.
