Twisted Palms has 10 cottages: five are slap bang on the beach, and five are set back up on a rocky outcrop overlooking the sea. When we visited, it was under new management and complete refurbishment (while keeping the relaxed local atmosphere) was promised. The restaurant is up on stilts over the water, and a swimming pool is planned.
Situated in a tranquil location on the shores of the Indian Ocean, Twisted Palms Lodge & Restaurant offers traditional African-style accommodation in thatch roof huts with a private veranda. It has a restaurant, café and massage facilities. The rooms come with an ocean view and are decorated with traditional wooden furnishings and paintings. Each room has a fan, mosquito net and a private bathroom. The restaurant on beach side stilt house overlooks the Indian Ocean. It serves local Zanzibar and Italian cuisine with an island twist. The café serves African coffee with spicy infusions, fresh fruit juices, along with a variety of international wines and liqueurs. Guests can relax on the beach on the sun loungers or hammocks. Free WiFi is available in public areas. Local activities include snorkelling, fishing swimming and water sports. Paje Beach is 10 km away, Stone Town and Jozani Chwaka National Park are within a 1-hour drive away by car. Twisted Palms Lodge & Restaurant has bicycle hire and an airport shuttle is available upon request.
