Nanfang Buluo

Taiwanese Indigenous

in Pingtung County

A rustic indigenous restaurant that whips out great Amis and Paiwan dishes. Signature items include chicken soup (雞湯, jītāng) with local cinnamon, and fish cooked with magaw (馬告魚, mǎgàoyú). 'Maqaw' is the name used by the indigenous Atayal for mountain pepper. There's also Lover's Tears (雨來菇), a healthy dish containing an algae similar to Chinese black-ear fungus. Portions are generous, too.
