Taiwan Lantern Festival

Light Show in Taiwan

Each year on the 15th day of the first lunar month, which usually falls in February, Taiwan's national lantern festival lights up with hundreds of specially created lanterns, ranging from giant panda bears to familiar cartoon characters. The festival, put on by the national tourism bureau, is held in a different location each year but always maintains a carnival-like atmosphere.

Expect street food stalls and light shows, as well as one giant lantern dedicated to that year's Chinese zodiac animal.
