Getting There & Away

Västerås is almost midway between Stockholm (108km to the east) and Örebo (95km west) on the E18 motorway.

The city is well serviced by road, rail and air. All local and long-distance buses and trains depart from Västerås Centralstation – the bus terminal is adjacent to the train station.

SJ Rail operates regular services between Västerås and Sala (65kr, 30 minutes), Stockholm (95kr, one hour), Örebro (105kr, one hour), Uppsala (116kr, 1½ hours) and Eskilstuna (84kr, 50 minutes).

Swebus Express offers less frequent coach services to a dwindling number of destinations including Stockholm and Örebro, but in most cases, it's cheaper and faster to get the train.

Västerås Airport is 6km east of the city centre. Budget carrier Ryanair flies here daily from the UK, and other budget airlines reach a variety of destinations, including Crete and Turkey.
