Hey everyone! I'm a 24 year old who's entirely new to hiking! I found a course/tour with STF (Swedish Tourist Association) for newbies/ya (ages 20-25), which would take us along Kungsleden…
I'm planning for a 3 weeks trips in January 2019.
We have in mind to visit Sweden and Norway.
Did some research and is really rather confusing. We don't drive so driving is not an option to move around.
We want to try to catch the northern lights.
Any tips and advises will be deeply appreciated.
We are travelling in to Malmo from Copenhagen on 4th May, and are flying out of Stockholm 10 days later. I’m unfamiliar with Sweden and my only thoughts were that we would travel up to Gothenburg and then over to Stockholm.
I would really like suggestions to help build my itinerary - places to go, things to see etc. I would like to get a good sense of Sweden, maybe explore the coast and visit a few villages or smaller towns. I quite like activities such as cycling, hiking and…
I plan to hike following route:
Day 1 Abisko Tourist Station to Abiskojaure hut
Day 2 to Alesjaure hut
Day 3 to Unna Allakas hut
Day 4 to Abiskojaure hut
Day 5 to Abisko Tourist Station
In a couple of weeks but I wonder if the huts are open.
I do have a lot of experience in very harsh conditions, I was planning to camp but just can't find the right info if those huts are open to get a warm cup of coffee and continue on hiking or sleep there if too tired.
that's it for the rest no mare…
My partner was just invited to a conference on the island of Uto in the Stockholm Archipelago for a week in August (Monday through Friday). I'd like to join, and we would probably add in a weekend in Stockholm itself immediately after the conference. I realize Uto is fairly remote, and I'm getting conflicting information on ferries from Stockholm directly to the island vs. a fairly complicated train/bus/ferry system to the island. Does anyone have specific thoughts on transport to Uto? Also, any…
Two weeks in Sweden, starting in Gothenburg and the Southwest and hoping to do some hopping around the archepelago. Since we will be there in late April (a bit early in the season) will businesses and restaurants etc be open in the island villages and small towns? And what are your favorite spots?
Also thinking of driving from Gothenburg along the lake region on the way to Stockholm. Or perhaps taking train but stopping along the way. What is there to see and do along the way? Can you suggest…
