Getting There & Away
A number of towns in Lappland have airports with scheduled domestic connections to Stockholm and charter flights winging in from around Europe at different times of the year. These include Kiruna, Gällivare, Arvidsjaur, Hemavan, Vilhelmina and Pajala.
The Inlandsbanan train runs in summer from Östersund in Jämtland to Gällivare, stopping at towns in Lappland along the way. It's also possible to travel into Lappland by train from Luleå to Gällivare and Kiruna.
Busing into Lappland is also possible from towns like Umeå, Skellefteå and Luleå on the Bothnian Coast.
Driving to Lappland is a good option, especially if you want to do some exploring. Kiruna is 1235km from Stockholm by road; similarly, Tärnaby is 880km and Vilhelmina in the south is 680km.
