I plan to hike following route:
Day 1 Abisko Tourist Station to Abiskojaure hut
Day 2 to Alesjaure hut
Day 3 to Unna Allakas hut
Day 4 to Abiskojaure hut
Day 5 to Abisko Tourist Station
In a couple of weeks but I wonder if the huts are open.
I do have a lot of experience in very harsh conditions, I was planning to camp but just can't find the right info if those huts are open to get a warm cup of coffee and continue on hiking or sleep there if too tired.
that's it for the rest no mare…
My partner was just invited to a conference on the island of Uto in the Stockholm Archipelago for a week in August (Monday through Friday). I'd like to join, and we would probably add in a weekend in Stockholm itself immediately after the conference. I realize Uto is fairly remote, and I'm getting conflicting information on ferries from Stockholm directly to the island vs. a fairly complicated train/bus/ferry system to the island. Does anyone have specific thoughts on transport to Uto? Also, any…
Two weeks in Sweden, starting in Gothenburg and the Southwest and hoping to do some hopping around the archepelago. Since we will be there in late April (a bit early in the season) will businesses and restaurants etc be open in the island villages and small towns? And what are your favorite spots?
Also thinking of driving from Gothenburg along the lake region on the way to Stockholm. Or perhaps taking train but stopping along the way. What is there to see and do along the way? Can you suggest…
Ok so here’s my dilemma: I currently hold both American and Peruvian citizenships. I want to go to Russia for the World Cup in June using my Peruvian passport since Peruvian citizens aren’t required a visa.
However, since I reside in Los Angeles, California,it would be cheaper for me to depart from the US and purchase two round trip tickets(LAX-STOCKHOLM-LAX & STOCKHOLM-YEKATERINBURG-STOCKHOLM)
So my plan is to…
I'm planning to travel to Umeå via Stockholm in late March. I've been there before a few years ago, and flew London-Stockholm-Umea that time; however, I'd like to see a bit more of Sweden on this occasion and was thinking of taking the train for the Stockholm to Umeå leg.
Does anyone know if the route is scenic? The train journey takes nearly 7 hours, so it's a big time investment, but would be well worth it, I think, if I got a better sense of Sweden and some nice views along the way :)…
I am starting a 3-4 year PhD program at Lund University in April, was wondering if anyone had any general advise about moving to the country (from the US). I am aware that I will have to obtain a PIN right away. I am wondering if it's advantageous to plan to buy a car (I like to rock climb, mountain bike, hike, ski, etc.), which locations in or around Lund are (not) worth trying to find housing, if the free language classes are worthwhile to take, if and what kind of bike I should bring/buy…
Hi there, a friend has moved to Stockholm for work, and another friend and I are thinking of visiting some time between late May and early July and making a trip of it.
We like to take a week off work and be out of the country roughly Monday to Friday. We travel fairly modestly (budget hotels rather than hostels) and also don't drive. We do like to drink and I am aware that this is famously expensive in Scandinavia, though our resident friend has given us some assurance that affordable drinking…
Can anyone please tell me where I can hire a cannon camera lens in Stockholm? I would like to hire a wide angle lens for my trip to see the northern lights. I have sent a few emails to camera places but i haven't had a response.
