Welcome to Arjeplog
Sitting 85km northwest of Arvidsjaur, the tiny Sami town of Arjeplog (Árjepluovve, in Sami) sits on the Silvervägen (Silver Rd; E95), surrounded by prime fishing country of 8700 lakes (each local has their favourite). Arjeplog’s star attraction is its excellent silver museum – silver was found here in the 1620s and a mining industry was established from those days. The town sits on Lake Hornavan, Sweden's deepest lake (221m), known for its scenic beauty. This is a cute little place, and a good base for exploring the surrounding area.
