Are you a bird lover and do you love open landscapes, beautiful rice fields and history? Then this tour towards Nickerie, which is also known as the rice granary of Suriname, and Bigi Pan - a beautiful swampy nature - fits like a glove. The tour can also be described as a real foodtrip, as you will taste the various delicacies of Suriname, from crab to cayman (crocodile). You will be amazed by this wonderful district tour, with its vast landscapes, beautiful rice field, the intriguing nature reserve of Bigi Pan and much more.
• 8.30 hr - Departure @ 't VAT (Klein Waterstraat / Kleine Dwarsstraat) - pickup and departure in small airconditioned minivans • The first stop we make is at Groningen, the main town of District Saramacca. The guide will tel you the history of this town. • The ride will than continue further to the coconut city, Coronie, there you see many palm trees, small wooden houses and little white churches. • The next stop will be in New -Nickerie. We will have a walk through the town, which have +/- 8.000 inhabitants. • The night will be spent in one of the hotels. • The following day after breakfast we will sail to the Bigipan nature reserve in a small boat. There you will spot different birds and various other animals.  • After the tour through Bigipan we will start our journey back to Paramaribo.
