Recommended Vaccinations

No vaccinations are required for visiting St-Martin/Sint Maarten. However, the World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that all travelers be covered for diphtheria, tetanus, measles, mumps, rubella and polio, regardless of their destination. Since most vaccines don’t produce immunity until at least two weeks after they’re given, visit a doctor at least six weeks before departure.

Availability & Cost of Healthcare

The island has two small but well-equipped hospitals.

St Maarten Medical Center East of Philipsburg in the Cay Hill area on the Dutch side; has a 24-hour emergency room.

Centre Hospitalier LC Fleming de Saint Martin In Marigot on the French side; has a 24-hour emergency room.

Tap Water

Tap water on both sides of the island comes from desalination plants. It is generally safe to drink, though doesn't taste very appealing so many locals prefer to drink bottled water.
