This tour takes you on a safari along the coastal regions of Southern Sri Lanka. Visit a Spice Garden on Koggala Lake and get to know more about spices. Tour the Peace Pagoda and get into the exciting atmosphere of Jungle Beach. Get to touch and hold sea turtles in a Turtle Hatchery and Rehabilitation Centre. Watch the unique sight of the stilt fishermen making their catch. Walk along the Koggala beach and enjoy the warm sun and salty sea breeze. ItineraryThis is a typical itinerary for this productStop At: Koggala Lake, Koggala, Galle District, Southern ProvinceStilt Fishing is one of the most interesting traditional fishing methods of Sri Lanka. Records indicate that it came into being just after World War II. This mode of fishing was more widely used all along the coast until the tsunami in 2004 which caused such activities to cease temporarily until recent years. The beautiful sight of fishermen perched branched poles as they fish skillfully during dawn, noon and dusk; can now be commonly along the southern coast in towns such as Koggala, Kaththaluwa and Ahangama. Occasional stilt fishermen can also be seen amongst the waters of Madu River, etc.Duration: 15 minutesStop At: Sea Turtle Conservation Project (Koggala), Koggala, Galle District, Southern ProvinceThe "Sea Turtle Farm & Hatchery" is a non - profitable organization which is maintained for the survival of Sea Turtles for the next generation. The "Turtle Farm" is situated in Koggala (southern part of Sri Lanka - Galle District) near to the beautiful beach. That is 12km from the Galle - Matara main road.
