Hi there, my husband and I will be travelling to Sri Lanka in August for three weeks we would like to explore the 'cultural triangle', hill country, Yala NP and then have a restful beach stay in the SW & Galle.
I have booked hotel in Negombo for when we first arrive. Is it recommended to book all accommodation in advance at this time of year as we would like to be a bit flexible with our trip?
For transport we have been looking at driver and car however the rates suggested have been between…

Hello everyone,
my boyfriend and I are currently in Kandy and we were planning to go tomorrow to Galle and Weligama for 3 nights, but our hostess told us, that there are floods in Galle district and the road might be closed, or so. Could anyone provide us with the weather situation in Galle? Would very much appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I'm currently in Hikkaduwa with my Sri Lankan adventure coming to an end on friday (My trip so far: Negombo, Dambulla, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Ella, Udawalawe, Mirissa, Unawatuna, Galle), however before I heard back to airport, I'm seeking a last minute excursion either on the went coast or in land. Has anyone got any Ideas?

My only idea currently is heading back to Negombo and do a day trip to Kitugala (rafting) as it's more accessible from there than Hikkaduwa. Any advice would be great…

We enjoy travelling on public transport and that is what we are going to do in Sri Lanka most of the time as well. However sometimes having our own car, tuk-tuk,... might be more convenient and we are considering renting one occasionally for a day or two at a time. I am brave enough driving in Sri Lanka, even after reading all the scary stories about it. We are not interested in renting a car with driver.

A few questions:

  • What papers are required for the rental? I read that I need an…
