The local boat owners' association has set prices for the Pigeon Island trip – Rs 2000 per boat (not including park fees) while snorkelling gear costs Rs 600 per day to rent. Boat hire costs the same whether it's a full day (7am to 5.30pm) or a couple of hours because they shuttle back and forth all day and pick you up whenever you've specified. The captains (who don't speak much English) have a hut at the beach by the park office.
Fishing trips and whale-watching excursions are also offered. The latter are very popular as you often see blue whales. There are also various wildlife-watching tours of the local mangroves to choose from. During the peak season in July and August, you need to book your Pigeon Island trip at least a day ahead.
