Two Days

Spend your first morning getting to know the old town, visiting Mercado Central and, opposite, La Lonja. Repair to a rice restaurant for lunch, then visit the cathedral and another sight, such a La Almoina. For dinner and drinks, head to Russafa's enticing tapas zone, browsing the vintage shops beforehand.

On day two, get the bus and wander around the bold buildings of exhilarating Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias. Stroll back towards the centre along the riverbed-turned-park Jardines del Turia. Lunch in L'Eixample, sip horchata in pretty Mercado de Colón and plan dinner in emblematic Barrio del Carmen.

Four Days

Choose either Bioparc or Museo de Bellas Artes for your third morning, then explore the Carmen's daytime-lunchtime vibe. Spend the afternoon exploring the shops of L'Eixample and the southern old town. Dine in one of the old town's tapas spots.

On the fourth day, take a stroll along the beachfront promenade, then through the characterful seaside barrio of Cabanyal, which offers enticing eating options.

In the afternoon, head to La Albufera for a boat trip on the lagoon and a stroll in the dunes. Stay around for sunset. Back in town, explore the dining options around Plaza Xúquer.
