The Charming Douro Valley Tour Walking Tour

Day 1: ArrivalWe welcome you to Porto’s airport, where you’ll be given all the information of the program and all the necessary equipment. The next destination is Penafiel, where the Vinha family awaits to welcome you to their welcoming Solar Egas Moniz. Take the rest of the day to enjoy the peace and quiet of this lovely refuge.Day 2: Paço de Sousa Monastery and Castro Monte Mozinho After the breakfast filled with typical products we’ll head out to Paço de Sousa monastery, one of the 21 Romanesque Route monuments. This route represents an important architectonic legacy of Roman origin that dates back to centuries before the country’s existence.It is in the middle of a truly rural landscape that we reach Castro de Monte Mozinho, one of the biggest pre-roman ruins in the Iberic Peninsula. Still wrapped in a millennial history, we head back to Solar Egas Moniz to enjoy a sunset. We suggest the company of some white port as an appetiser before dinner (13km + 450m).Day 3: Train trip over the Douro and vyneyards and river The destination is a train trip with the most wonderful views over the Douro Vineyards and the Douro River itself. You’ll reach Pinhão. Leave your bags in The Vintage House and go for a walk in Pinhão. The route will be a circular walk within the lovely village of Pinhão, including its vineyards and old enchanted trails. Vintage Douro House awaits you at the end of the day (12Km, +370m).Day 4: Typical Village of Sabrosa and ProvesendeAfter a breakfast filled with details and after a small transfer, the walk will be through the typical village of Sabrosa and Provesende, both part of the protected area of Douro by Unesco with unique views over the Douro valley (14,4km + 370m).Day 5: Régua and Wine TastingAfter breakfast, take the train from Pinhão to Régua. Arriving in Régua you will walk until you reach Quinta da Pacheca (10km, +200m).Enjoy a wine tasting in the hotel and visit this winery. Sleep in Quinta da Pacheca.Day 6: LamegoAfter breakfast you will have a small transfer to Lamego. The route of today will be full of history, passing by the Lamego Castle nestled at the top of the village and stage of numerous battles to protect the village. Lamegos´s cathedral  and Nossa Senhora dos remédios are two other ex libris of the day. Then you will walk from Lamego to Quinta da Pacheca, with unique views over the vineyards and contact with local people. The night is spent in Quinta da Pacheca (14km, +300m).Day 7: The historical city of PortoToday we’ll head out to the historical city of Porto. Depending on the time of the year, we’ll be able to reach the city via the Douro River, by a nice boat trip, with lunch included, or by train. The 1872 River House, in Porto’s riverside UNESCO world heritage, welcomes you to the 6 bridges city.Day 8: Departure

Day 1: The arrival We will pick you up at Porto Airport and together we will drive till the first accommodation, the charming Solar Egas Moniz. In Paços de Sousa, Penafiel. We will provide you all the information about the program, the bikes and you still have time to enjoy this peaceful and charming retreat.Day 2: Romanesque RouteAfter a delightful breakfast of typical products, the destination will be the Romanesque Route and its outstanding monuments of Roman origin. One of the first highlights is Castro Mozinho, one of the biggest pre-roman ruins in the Iberic Peninsula. You will also pass by Quintadona and Cabroela, two renovated Schist Villages that still breathes the old times flairs. Solar Egas Moniz (37km).Day 3: PinhãoToday's destination will be the charming village of Pinhão, and its surroundings of vineyards, where you will have an intense experience of the destination. The afternoon is reserved for you so that you can indulge the utmost of the destination. You have a Douro Boat Trip at 2.40 pm between Pinhão e Tua (2h) (according to the time of the year). You will be staying at the Vintage House Hotel with the best Douro Vineyards view.Day 4: Pinhão and ProvesendeAfter breakfast, the journey of today will be in the surroundings of Pinhão village, and a bit to the north to Provesende. A typical northen village fulfilled with herritage and old tales. There will also be lots of opportunities of wine tasting in the typical Quintas during the route. The overnight will at Vintage House Hotel (50km).Day 5: Pedal through Douro River MarginsToday you will head towards Quinta da Pacheca. The route will be near the Douro river and through its margins until you reach this winery, one of the most distinguished wine producers of the region where after your arrival you will have the chance to have a visit and wine tasting. The night will be spent at Quinta do da Pacheca Wine Hotel (26km).Day 6: LamegoYou will be full of history, passing by the Lamego Castle nestled at the top of the village and stage of numerous battles to protect the village. Lamegos´s cathedral in gothic arquitecture will be another ex libris of the day with eight centuries of history. Nossa Senhora dos Remédios Santuary is also another of the day highlight and its outstanding entrance staircase. The night is spent at Quinta da Pacheca (38km)Day 7: PortoToday you will be transferred to the charming Porto city. In here there will be plenty of activities to do and the city is lovely to explore on foot. The 1872 River House with views over the Douro River and in the central area of Ribeira will accommodate you.Day 8: Departure Day After a breakfast facing the Douro River it will be difficult for you to leave the city.
