Riding a ridge above spreading farmland, solid, undemonstrative Montuïri is one of Mallorca's oldest towns, dating back to the Moorish dominion. Known for its apricots, it's appropriately apricot that its handsome stone buildings glow, when lit by the morning sun. The sandstone Església de Sant Bartomeu dominates central Plaça Major, through which runs Carrer Major, graced by the occasional mansion and bar.
