La Gomera's cuisine is classic, simple Canarian, starring fresh seafood, meaty mains, hearty stews such as potaje de berros (watercress stew) and, of course, patatas arrugadas (wrinkly potatoes) with lashings of mojo (spicy sauce made from coriander, basil or red chilli peppers). The island's international community has introduced a few other flavours too, especially in Valle Gran Rey, which hosts some good fusion and vegetarian restaurants alongside its traditional offerings.
