Nightcrawlers' Ibiza Town

The port is by far Ibiza's most atmospheric area for an evening out. Kick off on intimate Plaça des Parc, before heading east along the view-laden harbour for drinks on one of its many terraces (keep an eye out for happy-hour deals). Then head back along LGBT-friendly Carrer de la Verge to Carrer d'Alfons XII, where club parades often terminate.

A popular choice on traffic-free Plaça des Parc, cheerful cafe-bar Madagascar is great for fuelling up on fresh juices, bocadillos or tapas before the night ahead. In the evening, it's a relaxed bar, with well-priced combinados (spirits with mixer) and draught beer.

Teatro Pereyra

Away from the waterfront hubbub, the rose-tinted time warp of Teatro Pereyra – all stained wood and iron girders – was once the foyer of the long-abandoned 1893 theatre behind. It’s popular and often packed, offering nightly live music, usually at midnight. No entry charge.

The Rock

Towards the promenade's eastern end, The Rock is a meeting point for club promoters and dance-music-industry types, so it’s a good bet for finding out what’s on and bumping into a DJ or two. It has a fab harbour-front terrace, and all club parades pass here at some stage in the night.

One of the most popular bars on LGBT-oriented 'Street of the Virgin', Sunrise has a gorgeous interior, with a disco ball and swings dangling by the bar. It's friendly and welcoming, with a decadent cocktail list, occasional live DJs and some of the strip's most packed-out tables.

Bar 1805

Tucked away on a Sa Penya backstreet terrace, boho Bar 1805 mixes some of the town's best cocktails, with lots of absinthe action on its beautifully illustrated menu. Try the signature Green Beast (served in a punch bowl) or a Gin-Basil Smash, which arrives in a teacup. Moules frites, burgers, steaks and salads are served until 2.30am.

Hugging the city walls, Angelo is a busy LGBT bar with several levels and a popular international rooftop restaurant. The atmosphere is relaxed and the crowd mixed. Nearby are a handful of other LGBT-oriented bars.

Soap at Dome

A famous gay bar known as the final destination for Ibiza's night-defining club parades. Around midnight in summer, the Soap at Dome terrace is full-on theatre, with costumes galore and a joyous buzz in the air. Expect the unexpected, as gold-paint-sprayed dancers, bondage queens and leather kings, bearing club banners and dispensing promo flyers, jostle for attention.

Getting There

Walk Plaça des Parc is on the northwest side of Dalt Vila's walls, within walking distance of anywhere in Ibiza Town.
