The Region in a Day

  • 1 day

Breeze into your Formentera stay with a lazy breakfast at Ca Na Pepa, in the pretty island capital Sant Francesc Xavier. Check out the 18th-century fortress-church and wander the village's boutiques, including ubertasteful Muy, espadrille sensation Alma Gemela and bikini-bliss Janne Ibiza.

Now it's beach time. You can't beat the impossibly beautiful bleach-blonde sands of the idyllic Trucador Peninsula; take your pick from Platja Illetes or Platja Llevant and gaze out on their mirage-like turquoise waters. If you're hungry, lunch in a stylishly converted mill at Es Molí de Sal or, for a slightly more affordable menu, at beachside Restaurante Tanga.

Post-beach, head to the island's southeastern coast and La Mola peninsula to marvel at the famous 19th-century Far de Sa Mola and swing by gorgeous cafe Codice Luna. Then it's an easy backtrack to Platja de Migjorn for sundowners at Chiringuito Bartolo, Piratabus, 10.7 or glitzy Gecko Beach Club, followed by a beachside seafood dinner at Sa Platgeta. Alternatively head to Sant Ferran for local cuisine and perhaps some live music at old hippy hangout Fonda Pepe. If you fancy, after midnight, hit Formentera's one and only club: Tipic, in Es Pujols.
