An island legend, German chef Josef Sauerschell has one Michelin star and it is well deserved. Stand outs are the hearty meat dishes – anything from veal carpaccio with artichokes and clams to Mallorcan suckling pig, trotters with foie gras and rack of lamb with an olive crust and figs. Josef runs the restaurant with his wife, Leonor, originally from Deià.
The cooking isn't as outlandish as at other places of this kind, but the results are every bit as rewarding, and the mountain backdrop from the terrace is just sublime. Each month a different Mallorcan vineyard is in the spotlight.
