Welcome to Caldera de Bandama & Santa Brígida

The road continues to climb towards Santa Brígida, about 5km west of La Atalaya. A rather drab place, it’s lifted by a pretty park and narrow tree-lined streets at its heart. There are sweeping views from the parish church over fields and palm groves to the central mountains. Stop at the Casa del Vino, a pleasant restaurant at the edge of the park. There are some Canarian specialities on the menu, plus plenty of grilled meat dishes. The wine list is excellent, and every bottle on it originates in Gran Canaria. Tastings are available. There's a small museum here with a modest display of wine-making implements.

Bus 311 (€1.55, 30 minutes) leaves hourly from Las Palmas to Santa Brígida, stopping at Bandama and La Atalaya en route.
