La Colmena

Food in La Rambla & Barri Gòtic

One of Barcelona's oldest pastry shops, La Colmena first opened in 1868. Today it's still run by the same family who acquired it in 1927, and produces its treats according to the original recipes. They sell many delicacies, but are best known for their boiled sweets, pine-nut-encrusted panellets (almond cakes), meringues and bolados (18th-century powered-sugar candy, flavoured with juice).
