Almería's excellent archaeology museum focuses on two local prehistoric cultures – Los Millares (3200–2250 BC), probably the Iberian Peninsula's first metalworking culture, and El Argar (2250–1550 BC), which ushered in the Bronze Age. Artefacts are well displayed and accompanied by Spanish and English explanatory panels. The third floor features finds relating to the area's Roman and Islamic past.
