Discover the "GR 223" Trail, the ancient Menorcan path which encircles the island of Menorca. A famous walking route, suitable for beginners and seasoned walkers. We provide transport from Mahon to the start of the route (Faváritx) and we return in the afternoon from the end of path (Fornells) back to Mahon.
After pick up by bus, our driver will drop off near Cap de Favaritx, where starts the path of Camí de Cavalls. The road heads inland through the undulating landscape so typical of this part of the island and continues crossing an agricultural landscape formed by crop areas, pasture land and areas of Mediterranean scrubland.The path returns to the coast in Pou d’en Caldes, one of the points that houses the largest concentration of endemic plants on the island. Then the section returns inland and crosses the wet areas of great naturalistic interest located within the boundaries of the S’Albufera des Grau park, such as the Addaia and Mongofra salt flats, one of the best spots for bird watching.The route continues in the wooded area of lloc d’Addaia to continue with an asphalted stretch of 3.5 km that connects the urbanization of Addaia with Arenal d’en Castell. On the beach of Arenal d’en Castell, the northern coast is bordered, until you reach the urbanization of Son Parc through which you reach the beach of Son Saura. Its dune system is observed with a humid zone and a well conserved vegetationThe route then enters the wooded area of the Comte lagoon and in the final part the road heads towards the Salines Noves or Concepción with a humid zone of special interest and protection of the Mediterranean ecosystem.When leaving Ses Salines the itinerary continues along 5 km of paved road in the direction of the fishing village of Fornells where you can visit the defense tower erected at the beginning of the 19th century during the British domination that is located west of the mouth of the port. The bus will pick you up at Fornells at 5.00pm back to Mahón.An optional bus stop on request is provided on this route: pick up at Reserva de la Concepción.
