Korea's most beloved ski resort, and one of its largest with 31 slopes and 15 lifts, Yongpyong is a perennial favourite with snow-seekers each winter. The resort gets an average of 250cm of snow (the season runs November to March), and on a clear day it’s possible to glimpse the East Sea from the slopes.
The surrounding buildings, including the giant Dragon Plaza ski house, manage to be charming but not kitschy. The resort also has cross-country trails and two half-pipes, and lessons are available in English (and four other languages). Night lift passes are available between 9pm and 12.30am (adult/child ₩38,000/30,000).
