Mt. Seoraksan is a beautiful stretch of highland covering 398.5 square kilometers of impressive peaks, numerous waterfalls, big temples and stunning views. Situated in Gangwon-do province by the harbor city of Sokcho, the range has as its summit the peak of Daecheongbong, which at 1,708 meters is the third highest in the country and places it above the clouds.Dinosaur Ridge gets its name for its likeness to a dinosaur’s spiked back. It provided for a majestic scene but also an difficult up and down repetition throughout the trail. It usually takes about 10 hours to climb it along dinosaur hiking trail.
Your trip begins at 06:00 am. Your guide will pick you up at your place and head to the Seorakdong Information center. The ride takes about three hours from Seoul. You will start the hike at around 09:00 am at the main park entrance, Seorakdong. It’s 6.5 kilometers from the main park entrance at Seorakdong to Madeungryeong pass. About 3.5 of those kilometers are spent climbing up stairs and rocks over beautiful views. Dinosaur ridge itself is only 5 kilometers. There is a lot of climbing, both up and down, with narrow passages in between rocks and sections of ropes. But this is a national park, so it is well-equipped and maintained, and never truly sketchy or dangerous. There are incredible views to be had up there, and you’ll be happy you challenged yourself and went. The Yangpok route is a popular choice for a decent following an adventure on Dinosaur Ridge. The trail gets its name from a waterfall of the same name along the route. It follows Cheonbuldong valley back to the Seorakdong park entrance.
