I am a solo female traveler who will be spending a week in Cape Town — Sat. 6/9 to Sat. 6/16 — and then going on safari (and spending LOTS of money doing it), so I’d like to economize while in Cape Town. To that end, I’d like to find someone to split a car-and-driver for one day (one day that week) to go to interesting places that have been recommended to me in Wine Country (like Graff) and the Cape Peninsula (like Kalk Bay) that group tours don’t go to.
Hi, I'm a female solo traveler finally exploring capetown for 7 days. I'm staying in Zonnebloem. I have been doing my own research from various travel sites. I try to be frugal but also don't want to miss out on group tours that are fun and educational making me feel safe, welcomed and a part of the country I'm exploring. If anyone has the time and enthusiasm, I'd love advice.
Any personal knowledge about Zonnebloem? Concerns or precautions to take? Walking around with my camera?
Should I get…
I am going on a 16 day safari on June 16 that starts in Cape Town and will end in Jo'berg after going to the Victoria Falls. I then fly out of Nairobi on June 26th. Since the safari costs a small fortune, the rest of the trip will be more budget oriented. I have some friends I would like to spend some time with in Nairobi. My question is: should I just fly from Jo'burg straight to Nairobi and spend 2 weeks in Kenya, or try to visit some other countries? I would love to see more of Africa, but I…
I am thinking of finally visiting South Africa mext year. I am considering may posibilities for next year. I have 5 weeks off for next year. I would be leaving from Los Angeles. I know this would be a long flight. I was thiking of flying tnto Cape town for a visit, then I could take the Train to Johanesburg. From Johanesburg I could take the bus to Victoria Falls. I don't think I would have the time on this trip to to that. Eventually I want to go from Cape Town to Dar Es Salam by train…
I want to go to South Africa to experience some safaris, and I was not prepared for the cost. This could very well be the most expensive things to do I've ever looked into.
Does anyone have any information as to whether there are cheaper options of exploring the following safaris? Are there day trip options available? Any info is appreciated!
Sanbona Wildlife Reserve
Shamwari Game Reserve
Phinda Private Game Reserve
iSimangaliso Wetland Park (this one may be affordable, but I cannot tell)
I will be flying into CPT - Capetown airport in a few weeks, and wonder how you get to the hotels without paying a taxi. I am sure those are costly. Are there transfer companies you can arrange like Super Shuttle? The two hotels I looked at had airport transfer available for a very high cost. So, recommendations anyone?
My boyfriend and I are at a family wedding in Pretoria and are hoping to do a road trip, either on public transport or hiring a car after. Now I will hold my hands up and say I have done very little research. I want to catch up with a friend in Pietermaritzsberg and that's the only major plan.
We are on a pretty tight budget and we both have visited lots of safari parks in Southern Africa so not to pushed on that. Have looked at the Drakensberg area and would love to do some hiking.
I will be travelling for diving : 1st stop Ponta Do Ouro, 2nd stop Sodwana, 3rd hesitating between Durban and Umkomaas, I would only have 2 to 3 days there (end may beginning of June).
Divers what do you think is best ? Would like to see sharks... obviously! :)
I am trying to find the South African email address and telephone number for Msitu Kwetu Lodge in Hluhluwe as I would like to make a booking directly with them. Thanks.
