Sleeping

Stellenbosch has some decent backpacker options, historical hotels, friendly guesthouses and, in the suburbs, self-catering cottages for rent. Many wine estates offer luxury accommodation. Stellenbosch Tourism can assist with bookings.

Eating

The town centre has a few excellent restaurants and plenty of casual cafes. Many of the best restaurants though are found on wine estates. These often offer a fine-dining experience and should be booked ahead.

Drinking & Nightlife

Stellenbosch’s nightlife scene is geared largely towards the interests of the university students, but there are classier options. It’s safe to walk around the centre at night, so a pub crawl could certainly be on the cards – if you’re staying at the Stumble Inn, one will probably be organised for you.

Guided Tours

Joining a tour is probably the best way to see the wineries, not least because it means you don't have to worry about driving back to your digs. There are various options, from basic hop-on, hop-off transport to bespoke trips including a gourmet lunch.

Walking Stellenbosch

If you need to walk off all those wine tastings, you could take a guided walk from Stellenbosch Tourism. Bookings are essential for weekend walks.
