Southern Africa is one of the continent’s most fascinating destinations, and on this two-week trip, you’ll get the best of what this dynamic region has to offer. Going from Cape Town to Johannesburg, you’ll experience the mountains of Lesotho, coastal Zululand, and the hiking terrain of Tugela Gorge, capping it off with wildlife safari drives in Addo and Kruger national parks.

Itinerary

Day 1 Cape Town Consider booking pre-tour accommodation if you'd like to see all of the popular sights in the area. Included Activities: Arrival Day and Welcome Meeting
Day 2 Cape Town/Oudtshoorn (1B) Travel into the Klein Karoo on the famous Route 62. Opt to enjoy a wine tasting along the way. Transport: Private Vehicle (8.00 hour(s))
Day 3 Oudtshoorn/Stormsrivier Before leaving Oudtshoorn, opt to explore the Cango Caves or visit an ostrich farm. Cross over the Outeniqua Mountains into the Garden Route. Stop at the Bloukrans Bridge for those brave enough to try the bungee jump, and arrive in the forest village of Stormsrivier for the night. Transport: Private Vehicle (6.00 hour(s))
Day 4 Tsitsikamma National Park (1B) Optional activities in the area include hiking a portion of the Otter Trail or along the coastline, abseiling, scuba diving, snorkelling, boat rides, and canoeing. Included Activities: Tsitsikamma National Park Visit Transport: Private Vehicle
Day 5 Stormsrivier/Addo Elephant National Park (1B, 1D) Continue on to Addo Elephant National Park, a unique wildlife area. Although famous for the Addo elephants, this park is home to a wide variety of wildlife. Embark on an afternoon wildlife safari drive (in our vehicle) in search of the resident elephants, rhinos, lions, buffalo, and even leopards. Listen to the wild sounds of Africa while enjoying a sundowner and sitting around the campfire at night. Day 6 Addo Elephant National Park/Graaff-Reinet (1B) Travel into the vast semi-desert of the Great Karoo and overnight in the town of Graaff-Reinet, just outside the Camdeboo National Park. Opt to visit the Valley of Desolation for beautiful views over the surrounding area. Transport: Private Vehicle (2.00-3.00 hours, 160km)
Day 7 Graaff-Reinet/Malealea Cross the border into the highest independent state in the world. Included Activities: Border Crossing (South Africa - Lesotho) Transport: Private Vehicle (8.00 hour(s), 552km)
Day 8 Malealea Enjoy free time for hiking or horseback riding along trails through this beautiful mountainous country.
Day 9 Malealea/Drakensville (1D) Return to South Africa and set up camp in the foothills of the mountain. Included Activities: Border Crossing (Lesotho - South Africa) Transport: Private Vehicle (8.00 hour(s), 450km)
Day 10 Drakensville (1B, 1D) Set off on an included hike along Tugela Gorge in Royal Natal NP. Additional Notes: Today's hike is a 1 hr drive from our camp. Included Activities: Tugela Gorge Hike
Day 11 Drakensville/Saint Lucia (1B) Travel to St Lucia on the coast of Zululand. Transport: Private Vehicle (7.00 hour(s), 480km)
Day 12 Saint Lucia Take an optional boat trip on the estuary or go horseback riding on the beach. Opt to visit Hluluwe - iMfolozi Park, which is a safe haven for both the white and black rhino, as well as lions, buffalo, elephants, and leopards.
Day 13 Saint Lucia/Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary The mountainous Kingdom of Swaziland, lead by King Mswati III, is one of three monarchies in Africa. Explore Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary, which is situated in the Swaziland’s “Valley of Heaven”, the Ezulwini Vallley. Day 14 Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary/Hazyview (1D) Cross back into South Africa and drive through the famous Kruger National Park, to our safari camp just outside the gates. Day 15 Kruger National Park (1B, 1D) Opt to upgrade to a 4x4 vehicle for the wilderness safari drive. Included Activities: Kruger Wildlife Safari Drive Traditional Dinner and Local Dancing Transport: Private Vehicle
Day 16 Hazyview/Johannesburg Transfer back to Johannesburg, South Africa's largest city. The tour ends upon arrival. Additional Notes: The tour ends upon arrival in Johannesburg.
