The only private lodge in iSimangaliso’s Kosi Bay region, and surrounded by the sand forest’s Umdoni trees, this intimate 16-bed lodge offers a dreamy, luxurious – given the remote circumstances and limited electricity and wi-fi – experience. Accommodation is in romantic safari tents. They're a blend of Out of Africa (wooden decor and muted furnishings) and natural (the ultimate in ingenious outdoor bathrooms).
There are activities (some included in the nightly rate) on tap, and guest transfers are available from nearby Manguzi. If you want to get here yourself you'll need a 4WD vehicle to navigate the sand roads.
Kosi Forest Lodge is privately tucked into the tranquil sand forest alongside the Kosi lake system, located in the Isimangaliso World Heritage Park. It offers well-appointed rooms in a natural surrounding. The thatched rooms are raised on a wooden deck and offer roll-up canvas blinds. Each room features a unique outdoor and reed-enclosed bathroom. The dining area is situated at the main lodge, opening up onto a spacious wooden deck. There is also a bar and a shared lounge. Guests in Kosi Forest Lodge can enjoy their privacy, relax by the pool or choose from a range of activities, including guided canoeing, raffia forest walks and day boat trips across the lakes.
Please note that the lodge can only be accessed in by 4x4 vehicle. Alternatively, a transfer can be organised by the lodge from Manguzini town, which is offered twice daily at a set time. The transfer needs to be pre-booked with the lodge in advance. Please note that battery recharging facilities are available, but there is no electricity and cell phone coverage is limited.
