Beginning around 80km northwest of Nelspruit (Mbombela), this trail ascends from the Drakensberg foothills to the escarpment and back. Cape clawless otters, grey rheboks, mountain reedbucks, duikers, bushbucks and plenty of birdlife can be seen, as well as flora including dwarf red-hot pokers, pineapple flowers and eight disa species. Hikes last two days. Book through Komatiland Forests Eco-Tourism in Sabie.
Head to the Ecotourism page of the website for the trail brochure. To reach the trailhead from the N4 highway, take the Sabie/Sudwala turnoff (Rte 539) around 27km west of Nelspruit. Follow Rte 539 until it becomes a dirt road. After about 10km, turn right at the Uitsoek hut sign. Keep on this road until you reach the Uitsoek Forest Plantation.
