Simon's Town & Southern Peninsula
Staffed by volunteer guides from the Muizenberg Historical Conservation Society, this thatched cottage houses a museum dedicated to Cecil Rhodes. The much-maligned British colonialist died in the front bedroom in 1902, while awaiting completion of Rust-en-Vrede, the neighbouring manor designed by Sir Herbert Baker.
The cottage has pleasant mountainside gardens, which are a lovely place to rest and spot whales during the season.
