The Kalk Bay Photowalk is an opportunity to explore, experience and capture the quintessential Cape Fishing Village with your own eye and lens. With stunning ocean vista's and tidal pools, an old-world but trendy village atmosphere, the characterful harbor and the iconic St James Beach Huts all easily accessible by foot, you will never miss a moment or shot. The fact that we can walk from each sight to the next is a huge bonus, you will never be stuck in a vehicle when you chance upon a photographic view or moment, and are fully immersed in the spirit of the area as we stroll along the oceanfront. As your pro-photographer and guide, I will guide you to the best spots in their best light, and be on hand to help you with any technical advice should you wish it. We will experience the essence of this beautiful place, and have the opportunity to capture amazing images along the way.
ItineraryThis is a typical itinerary for this productOlympia Cafe is a Kalk Bay institution, and home to great coffee and croissants. We will meet here initially, to touch base, and have a quick chat regarding the Photowalk. I can look over your equipment and check in with you regarding what your photographic level is, and what kind of images you would like to shoot.Duration: 30 minutesLocation: Olympia CafeThe iconic beach huts at St James are picture perfect. At the right time and season they pool here can be shot into the sun, for amazing dramatic skies and silhouetted forms, but the location is also great after sunset for twilight style long exposures... Duration: 30 minutesLocation: St. James Beach, St. James, Western CapeThis beautiful tidal pool situated between Kalk Bay and St James is incredibly photogenic. You pass underneath the railway bridge through a tunnel to reach the pool, with it's whitewashed pools and small sandy beach. The railway line and mountains behind frame this iconic cape setting.Duration: 30 minutesLocation: Dalebrook Tidal Pool, St. James, Western CapeThe legendary Kalk Bay Harbour is one of the nicest harbours to visit in Cape Town. It is small and accessible, and fairly old-school, with grizzled old fisherman working crayfishing boats that have seen decades of life on the Atlantic. There is a small lighthouse/beacon and the twin piers that make up the harbour mean that there are lots of great angles and views available.Duration: 30 minutesLocation: Kalk Bay Harbour, Kalk Bay, Western CapeWe will finish up our walk here, there is a lovely little beach to the right of The Bell, at which we could shoot a few last images, and also another great little tidal pool right outside the bell.
